Details: Jeannie C. Riley, "The Girl Most Likely," LP (Pickwick/Hilltop, 1969). There are some scuff marks and imperfections on this vinyl, but it plays through it all and sounds great (has been tested/played to check). It was stored somewhere well, and there is very little yellowing or ring-wear on the cover, a dirt mark on the back near opening, cover is mostly white background, and the cover also shows a fantastic image of Jeannie C. Riley looking fierce on the motorcycle wearing super-cool go-go boots! This is the Hilltop/Pickwick co-release of this LP. Record comes in a plain paper sleeve. See images for cover condition. Yellow Hilltop label. US press.

Description: “The Girl Most Likely,” the best of her subsequent hits, finds her bemoaning the reputations poor girls get precisely because they’re poor. Her giddiness when it turns out to be another girl in trouble is cruel, sure, but her schadenfreude is understandable enough. Catchy, too." - Rolling Stone (excerpt from 10 Classic Country Albums Turning 50 in 2019)

"Beyond its Grammy Award-winning (Best Country Vocal Performance- Female) title track, the Harper Valley PTA album features the frantic "Mr. Harper" and Hall's sordid tale of how "Widow Jones" seduced every young man in town. Future country songs of note, including "The Girl Most Likely," "Country Girl" and "Good Enough to Be Your Wife," failed to match Riley's early career success. Which is a shame, considering the lyrical depth of singles like 1969's "The Rib"--a feminist-friendly Biblical analogy that reminds listeners that women were made to stand side-by-side with men, not as "a foot bone to be stepped on, a leg bone to be walked on or a hip bone to be sat on." - excerpt from 'Song Behind The Song' from Wide Open Country
