War On Women "Live From Magpie Cage" Single (2018)

Details: White vinyl single for War On Women/Shawna Potter and Brooks Harlan acoustic "Live From Magpie Cage" recorded in J. Robbins' (Jawbox, Burning Airlines, etc) studio. Pressing limited to 400 copies. Purchased used but in fantastic/mint condition, but is w/o download code.

Description: "War On Women is a co-ed, feminist hardcore punk band from Baltimore, Maryland, formed in 2010. Song topics have covered abortion rights, access to contraception, rape and online misogyny. In 2003, Brooks Harlan recruited Shawna Potter to sing and play guitar for AVEC, an indie-rock band project that was based Nashville. Seeing Courtney Love playing guitar in Doll Parts inspired Potter to play music.

Harlan and Potter moved to Baltimore where, in 2010, they formed War On Women, a band “inspired by the riot grrl bands [Potter] adored as a teenager.” War On Women released their debut album, a six-song EP titled Improvised Weapons, in 2012 on Exotic Fever Records. In 2015 the band released its first full-length album, the self-titled War On Women, on Bridge Nine Records. The album was recorded in collaboration with J. Robbins at Magpie Cage. Their second full-length album, Capture the Flag, was again recorded with J. Robbins. It was released in 2018 by Bridge Nine Records."
