Details: Terre Haute pressing of Odetta "At Carnegie Hall" from 1960. Stereo version. Light wear on vinyl and cover. Original inner paper sleeve, some tearing near top (see images) for additional wear.

Description: "It was recorded live at that New York venue on April 8, 1960. The material ranged from traditional folk numbers, ballads, and lullabies to prison work songs and grandstanding spirituals. As a result of this long play, Odetta began to be talked about in the same vein as some of her own heroes – greats like Bessie Smith, Lead Belly, and Mahalia Jackson. All of these live recordings featured support from Bill Lee on upright bass. (The father of U.S. film director Spike Lee, Bill is another unheralded hero of the 1960s folk revival. He contributed session work to many recordings and helped to expand the parameters of folk’s sound from basic solo acoustic guitar accompaniment.) Odetta’s also joined on the last three numbers by the Choir of the Church of the Master, conducted by Dr. Theodore Stern."--Jazz Messengers
