Nina Hagen "In Ekstasy" LP (1985)
Details: Nina Hagen's "In Ekstasy" is her third (and harder to find) studio album. It was released in early 1985 on CBS Records (at the same time as the German version, In Ekstase). This was to be her final album on CBS/Columbia before her contract expired in 1986. Punk-rock, dance-pop, contains cover versions of "My Way" (Frank Sinatra), and "Spirit In The Sky" (Norman Greenbaum). Spine is really starting to wear on this one, but the cover still looks cool as hell, and the record media is super clean, also.
Description: "Nina Hagen is one of those restless, multifaceted artists whose career and catalog can be intimidating. With 15 albums over 35 years, tons of collaborations and compilations, a sizable film resume, including this (and what in the world is this????), plus an obvious penchant for giving zero f-words what anybody thinks of her, where does one begin? I will admit that I had no idea myself, but I gotta say that In Ekstasy seems as good a place to start as any, even though I grabbed it based on its exciting cover and the comments written upon it. It's dance-y in the best mid-'80s way, it's punk-rock, it's arty, it's--well, it's ecstatic!"--KEXP, Levi Fuller
