Author: "Juliet Jacques (b. 1981) is a writer and filmmaker. She has published two books, including, TRANS: A MEMOIR (Verso, 2015), based on her ‘Transgender Journey’ series for The Guardian (2010-12), and a runner-up in the Polari First LGBT Book Award in 2016. She also writes short fiction, which has appeared in Five Dials, The London Magazine, and elsewhere. Her criticism, essays, and journalism on a variety of subjects including literature, film, art, politics, and football, have been published in Granta, Frieze, Sight & Sound, The London Review of Books, The Washington Post, and many other places. Her debut short story collection, VARIATIONS, will be published by Influx Press in June 2021. Jacques' 16mm short films, Approach/Withdraw (2016, co-directed with Ker Wallwork) and You Will Be Free (2017) have screened in galleries and festivals across Europe, and she was included in the Independent on Sunday’s Pink List of influential LGBT+ people between 2012 and 2015.
